Happy to be in July now. We have lots of things to look forward to this month-reunions, getaways, parades! We also have some fun projects ahead of us-it really is great to go to bed Sunday night looking forward to the work week ahead.

Speaking of work, Matt and I have noticed this phenomenon when we talk to others about our work. (More-so the fact that both of us quit our day jobs to make films.) They often use the word "brave", and for some reason that never sits well with me. After thinking this over for a while I realized why. What we have done feels less like a brave choice, and more like the only choice. It was what we wanted enough that the word "choice" became nonexistent. I'd like to imagine that's what happens when one makes a good choice, which in the end feels like there was no choice at all.

  5. hi julie! I just discovered Tiger in a Jar from another blog. I wanted to say that I love what you do...it is so inspiring. I quit my job to pursue my own dream a few months ago and have had the same uneasiness with being described as "brave" and I wasn't quite sure why. I think you just articulated exactly what my hesitation was...I have been unable to pinpoint it until now :)
